Matthew 12:33

Make a tree good, and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad, and its fruit will be bad. For a tree is recognized by its fruit. NIV How many of you have seen a tree along side of the road, with just one shoe hanging on a limb? Have you ever wondered where the other shoe is?

Today as I was riding home with my husband, my thoughts went to: How many of us have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and then somewhere along the road of life, half of our completeness in Jesus falls away, because we lost one half of our faith. We feel the longing for the lost faith, but do not know where and when it fell away. We are never sure along what road, we lost that which kept us complete, and so we began little by little to discard what we have left. We cannot walk the straight and narrow path, with just on half of our being: we need to be together in both mind and spirit.

In the same way, if we do not hold on and keep our faith in Jesus Christ, we have a tendency to lose what is important to us. Our completeness is disrupted by the things of this world, with one half going the way of the world, while the other half is left without hope, struggling to hold onto a weakened faith.
